Weekly Photo Challenge – Landscapes

WPC:  Landscapes

https://dailypost.wordpress.com/photo-challenges/landscape

One of my very favorite vacations ever was when we visited Moose Lake, Montana.  I was in the early stages of playing with photography, but the scenery was so magnificent that the pictures couldn’t help but come out good.

Weekly Photo Challenge – Dance

Happy. Smiling. Living the moment. Enjoying the life.

Dancing.

One of many favorite pictures I have of my boys.

They were 3 and 5 years-old in this picture and now they are 14 and 16.  They are still apt to be just as fun-loving and goofy.  Just not as keen on me getting pictures of it.

No matter – I love my boys to bits.

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge – Outdoor Seating

According to my TimeHop from six years ago the North Texas area received a lot of snow.  The ‘dusting’ our weather guru’s had forecasted overnight turned into a crazy 8 1/2  inches by the time we woke up.

Generally speaking, we do not get a lot of snow in this area.  Ice, yes.  Snow – not so much.  To say we were surprised would probably be  bit of an understatement.  Particularly, since just 3 days earlier we had been dining on the patio.

For this post I give you then and now views of outdoor seating on my patio.

Patio Dining Mar 2010March 18 – enjoying family time gathered around the patio table.

3 days later everything was covered in snow.  This year, though, winter skipped us completely.  Spring is definitely in full force.

The Bistro Table: snowy in 2010 but, today, just waiting to be enjoyed.

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge – Indoor Seating

As soon as I read the prompt my mind jumped to an image of my husband and granddaughter.
Sitting on hard bleachers with no back support for extended periods is never thrilling or exciting.  So, why would someone stay in place any longer than necessary?  For the love of a sleeping child.
At 14 months-old the anticipation of her father receiving his doctorate was exhausting.  Or, maybe it was just way past her nap time.  Whatever the reason, she fell asleep in grandpa’s arms and him, not wanting to disturb her, sat in the seats for several minutes after graduation ended and the crowd had disbursed.
What a sweet baby.  And what a loving grandpa.

WPC: One Love

In my world one love has a domino effect.

Matthew 22: 36-38 “Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?”37 He said to him, “You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. 38 This is the greatest and the first commandment.

Matthew 22: 39 The second is like it:  You shall love your neighbor as yourself. (represented by my beloved family)Photo cred to Kyon Photography

1 Peter 4:8 Above all, let your love for one another be intense, because love covers a multitude of sins.

WPC: Life Imitating Art

The Thinker – a sculpture by French artist Auguste Rodin (1840 – 1917).

The original is in the Musee Rodin – Paris, France.

An imitation bookend is in my house in Texas.

Next……life imitates art.

WPC – Transitions

Weekly Photo Challenge – Transitions.

Transitioning from ragamuffins to – phew that’s much better! –  my son, Patrick and my dog, Lucy.

Going from shaggy headed  to a buzz cut, my boy probably lost 5 pounds with that haircut.

My Westie is a pistol and she loves to do things her way.  Rolling in the mud is a good day for her.  Alas, in order to come back inside she had to have a big ole bath.

WPC – A Trio of Characters

My grandson, Kolbe, provides a trio of characters to keep our days interesting.

Kolbe Batman

Sometimes Batman is our fierce protector – after he finishes his breakfast.

Kolbe Captain America

Often, Captain America shows up to watch over all the children playing soccer.

Kolbe Darth Vader

But, then again, we all have those days when our dark side shows.

And, finally, a trio of Frozen characters.  The cutest little girls in this whole big wide world. (I can say that because they are my granddaughters :))

WPC – Victory

2008 Before pic

I’m down 50 pounds from my heaviest weight.  I am not the thinnest that I’ve ever been but these days, as a 50-something, I am trying to focus on being healthy as opposed to being skinny.

Still, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t pleased with my progress.

Jan-Jul 2013 Iphone 203

At my heaviest I couldn’t run one minute without getting completely winded.  Starting out slow and using a a couch-to-5K program I completed my first race six months after I began losing weight.

Then a Title Boxing Club opened in my hometown.  I was invited to try a free class by a friend and I was hooked. The trainer pictured with me pushes me to try my hardest and do my best.  As all the trainers do.

Nov 14 Endu Chall

This past Saturday I participated in a 3 Hour Endurance Challenge.  Our team of 5 ranged in age from 52 years-old to 14 years-old.  We didn’t win but we got it done and had fun doing it.  I am second from the right.  The young man to my right is my 14 year-old son, Ben.

Losing 50 pounds before I turned 50 – Jubilance!

Keeping it off – Triumph!

Connecting with my son through working out – Joy & Pride!

Being physically healthy and fit – VICTORY!
